28 years ago today!
Whew! Are we old!
After a whirlwind courtship of 7 YEARS, Dan and I were married

I made my wedding dress. Had a car accident 3 weeks before the wedding and the e.r.doctor put me in one of those horse collar things. I explained I hadn’t started my wedding dress yet. He said to put some lace around my neck!! My family doctor told me to lose the horse collar…which I did. Still didn’t finish the dress til the photographer was at my house…..First picture…my Dad stepped on the cathedral length veil I had so lovingly attached to my Mom’s headpiece which I had painfully restored after it had been in a flood, and ripped it right off! Used surgical tape to reaattach it. When my Dad kissed me at the alter he did the same thing. Guess I wasn’t supposed to have a train that long. Used many bobby pins to get it back together for pictures after the ceremony. Took the long veil off as soon as we left the church, leaving a chapel length veil which lasted about 10 minutes!
The limo came and picked up my Mom and Bride’smaids and DID NOT COME BACK for my Dad and I! My Dad set out on foot and found him wandering the neighborhood, lost. (mind you, it was only a 6 block trip) This caused me to be 45 minutes late. I’m ALWAYS late, but was actually on time for the limo. To this day, people doubt this story because of my track record.
Got a call from the parish priest 3 days before the wedding explaining that the boiler in the church had blown up, so he gave us the choice of a cold church or warm gym….we chose the church, much to the dismay of many guests who froze!
We had a beautiful candlelight ceremony planned. Spent 45 minutes with our family priest getting the lighting just right. Father Larry got there early and set the lights just as we had asked. The cleaning lady noticed from across the street that the church was kind of dark, came in and turned on all of the lights. She also locked the musicians out of the choir loft. This all happened while I was at home waiting for the limo to return. By the time I got there, everything had been straightened out and it was lovely.
At the reception, as a joke, some of my Jewish friends paid the band to play Havanagilla (sp?) as soon as we sat down to dinner. The waitresses took that as a sign and took our cake into the kitchen and began to dismantle it. After Father Larry and I danced to the laughter of our friends, I noticed the cake was gone. I went into the kitchen and made them put the cake back together. Upon returning to my seat, I realised I was the ONLY person in the room with NO FOOD! Got my food but was too nervous to eat it.
I’m sure all of these events were signs from God to either call off the wedding or prepare for a bumpy ride. I chose the bumpy ride. It’s fairly safe to say the marriage has lasted. Seems I made the right choice.
Now that you’ve spent almost 28 years reading all of this, pop a cork and have a drink and celebrate with us. We’re going to a hockey game!
Enjoy and be safe!

Oh! I forgot! Our Best Man actually lost my wedding ring! The parish priest found it on the stair of the church the next morning! (I was married in my Grandmother’s ring…the ring he lost was the one that matched my engagement ring…..I would have killed him if he had lost Grandma’s ring!!!)
